Kemba Walker was traded to the Pistons in early July, but the team waived him this week.
Although he was officially a member of the team for two months, there was never a plan to keep him, Detroit head coach Dwane Casey reveals.
The reason for this is that there are already two young point guards on the roster who need playing time. “We just got Jaden Ivey and Cade Cunningham, it wouldn’t have made sense,” Casey said, per Omari Sankofa II.
Walker, a four-time NBA All-Star, is now a free agent and can be signed by any team.
