The 2022-23 NBA regular season will kick off on Tuesday with the Los Angeles Lakers and Golden State Warriors facing off.
The Warriors will receive their 2022 NBA championship rings in part of a ceremony before kickoff. The team recently dealt with distractions resulting from Draymond Green hitting Jordan Poole in practice. However, Green did not receive a suspension and the team has since obtained contract extensions for Jordan Poole and Andrew Wiggins.
It was a tumultuous offseason filled with trade rumors and criticism for the Lakers involving Russell Westbrook. He’s still on the roster, and the team will try to make it work with the former MVP and Patrick Beverley on the defensive end, as well as trying to combine with co-stars LeBron James and Anthony Davis.
Both the Lakers and Warriors have championship aspirations for the 2022-23 season and will have a chance to square off against each other in this matchup.

The Lakers now have Patrick Beverley to try and slow down Stephen Curry inside half court, but there’s not much a defender can do against elite talent. Los Angeles needs a big effort from Anthony Davis as a rim protector and with his overall defensive versatility against Golden State.
There is significant continuity with the Warriors on both ends of the floor, especially after a long playoff run together. The Lakers will continue to learn each other’s tendencies. Keep in mind that Russell Westbrook, LeBron James and Anthony Davis only shared the court for 21 total games last season.
